Key Properties of PP
- Stiff & LightweightHigher stiffness than polyethylene at a lower density — around 0.90 g/cm³, the lightest commodity polymer, so you get more parts per tonne.
- Heat ResistantHolds shape well above the point where polyethylene softens, which is why it is used for hot fill packaging, sterilisable items and autoclavable parts.
- Excellent Hinge LifeA moulded living hinge in PP survives repeated flexing — the reason flip-top caps and hinged boxes are made from it.
- Homopolymer or CopolymerHomopolymer for stiffness, clarity and gloss. Random and impact copolymers where the part must resist a knock, especially in cold conditions.
- RecyclableResin identification code 5. Widely recycled and accepted in most export packaging specifications.
